In August of 1984 a group of people prepared to follow the Lord’s leading in building a new church was established. Two months later the name Faith United Baptist Church was chosen. By the spring of 1985 the pulpit committee called Rev. Michael Derksen to serve as the church’s first Pastor.

The church began to conduct its own Sunday worship service using the facilities of the New Maryland United Baptist Church. By September of 1985 a parcel of land was acquired consisting of 3.5 acres. Later that same fall construction began and in March of 1986 the congregation of Faith United Baptist moved into their new home.

In May of 2007 the people dedicated a 9,000 square foot expansion onto the existing church facility. The future is exciting because God’s faithfulness in the past is so evident. He has given us a vision to minister in this community and therefore we know that he has some very special things in store for the people of New Maryland.
